Matt Difanis Named 2013 CCAR REALTOR of the Year

Matt Difanis Receives Champaign County Association of REALTORS®

2013 REALTOR® of the Year Award

 

          REALTOR® Matt Difanis, broker-owner of RE/MAX Realty Associates of Champaign, is the 2013 REALTOR® of the Year for the Champaign County Association of REALTORS®. Difanis received the award at the CCAR awards banquet on October 23rd at the Champaign Country Club.

          The award is based on involvement to the REALTOR® Association, real estate industry and contributions to the community.

          Difanis served as the CCAR 2012 President and also has been a volunteer on numerous CCAR committees including the Multiple Listing Committee, Technology Development Working Group, Association Operations Involvement Group and Contract Working Group.

          "This year we recognize Matt Difanis for his contributions to the real estate industry and to his volunteerism to the Champaign County Association of REALTORS®," said Phil Trautman, president of the Champaign County Association of REALTORS® . "Matt goes above and beyond in his commitment to the industry and spends many hours volunteering to further the initiatives of CCAR. He is highly respected within the industry and always delivers with a high degree of integrity."

          Difanis' volunteer efforts go beyond the Champaign area, as he is also a prolific volunteer with Illinois Association of REALTORS®. This year he served as vice chairman of the Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Member Involvement Group and as chairman of the Governance Task Force.

          He also served on the Nominating Committee, Professional Standards Committee, REALTORS® Political Involvement Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and Young Professionals Network. In 2014, he will serve as chairman of the Public Policy and Governmental Affairs Member Involvement Group in addition to involvement on other statewide committees including the Strategic Thinkers Working Group. Difanis serves as a member of the National Association of REALTORS® Social Media Advisory Board.

          Difanis is a native of Champaign and earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois. In 2004, he was honored as one of REALTOR® Magazine's "30 Under 30".

          Difanis is the volunteer photographer for Central Illinois Honor Flight, which provides free trips to Washington, D.C. for World War II veterans. He has made 12 trips, capturing more than 30,000 images of WWII heroes. In addition, he promotes the programs locally by making speeches at schools and other civic organizations promoting the Honor Flight program. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mahomet Area Youth Club.

          He will be recognized in April at the Illinois Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year Banquet in Springfield.

          Other individuals recognized at the CCAR Awards banquet include:

          REALTOR® Jayme Ahlden, a licensed real estate broker with RE/MAX Realty Associates of Champaign, received the Rookie of the Year award. The award is presented annually to a new REALTOR® who has been in the industry no more than two years but who has actively served on Association committees.

          REALTOR® Judy Fejes, a licensed real estate broker with Coldwell-Banker Honig-Bell of Champaign, received the Affiliate Choice Award. The award is presented annually to a REALTOR® selected by affiliate members in recognition of his/her outstanding contribution to the local real estate industry.

          Joann Thomas of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage received the Affiliate of the Year award. The award is bestowed on a CCAR affiliate member each year in recognition for their contributions to furthering the local real estate profession through participation in Association activities and committees and assisting REALTOR® members.

          REALTOR® P.J. Trautman, a licensed real estate broker with Champaign County Realty in Champaign received the Midland States Bank Scholarship and Busey Bank Scholarship.

          REALTOR® Janice Redman, a licensed real estate broker with Twin City Realty in Champaign received the Helen Stafford Scholarship presented to a new agent who has been an active member of CCAR for no longer than five years. She also received the News-Gazette Scholarship. Redman joined CCAR in 2009.

          The Champaign County Association of REALTORS® is a voluntary organization serving Champaign County and surrounding areas, and it is the leading resource for REALTOR® members and an advocate for homeownership and private property rights.
