The Champaign County Association of REALTORS® hosted a fundraiser on May 2nd to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The fundraiser was held at Jupiter's at the Crossing in Champaign.
On May 13th, CCAR presented a check in the amount of $4,445.00 to Sheila Dodd, Executive Director for Champaign County Habitat for Humanity.
"Our Association set a goal this year to help our local Habitat for Humanity in building affordable energy efficient homes. Many area REALTORS® are already involved in volunteering in Habitat for Humanity projects in Champaign County and we wanted to step up that level of involvement and contributions to benefit Habitat this year," said Phil Trautman, president of the Champaign County Association of REALTORS®.
A portion of the funds raised on May 2nd also will benefit the joint Illinois Association of REALTORS® and Habitat for Humanity project underway. The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is partnering with Habitat for Humanity in building three homes within the state of Illinois in Murphysboro, Springfield and Aurora. REALTORS® from across the state will be volunteering to work to help construct these three homes. A check in the amount of $1,281.00 from the May 2nd fundraiser will go to the IAR/Habitat for Humanity projects.
"This statewide effort shows how REALTORS® are partnering to help build decent, affordable housing for those in need. REALTORS® from throughout the state are taking part in these projects and we are helping families realize the dream of homeownership that might not otherwise have had that opportunity," said Trautman.
